MMA rivalries are as old as the sport itself and can draw the interest of any fan with the promise of a resolution inside the cage. Now reigning Fight Club Rush flyweight champion Jonny Touma (6-2) is set to rematch Rohulla Yousofi (4-3) in his second title defense!
The fight goes down at FCR 20 at ABB Arena in Västerås on June first.
For several years Touma was a standout amateur competitor, representing the Swedish National MMA Team abroad and doing so with great success, securing bronze the 2018 European MMA Championships.
Touma made the move to pro in August of 2020 and quickly proved his championship mentality and skills in his promotional debut against Ilaz Zabelaj at FCR 8, winning a hard-fought decision.
Following that win Touma continued to prove his worth and potential, getting the judges nod in the 2021 Swedish Fight of the Year against Zoran Milic at FCR 9, and put Safi Husseini to sleep at FCR 13.
After a series of unfortunate circumstances which resulted in cancelled title fights, none of which were Toumas fault, he was instituted as flyweight champ by way of walkover. He would go on to defend his title against Yousofi, who took the fight on short notice, at FCR 18, winning a clear cut decision.
Yousofi is a multiple time Afghan boxing champion and three-time Swedish silver medalist. While ha had a rough start to his pro career, losing two straight fights before earning his first pro win via first round knockout.
After that Yousofi scored emphatic wins over Anton Larsson and the above mentioned Milic in career-defining performances. Since the loss to Touma Yousofi went on to defeat top-ranked Renato Vidovic in his best performance yet, setting the stage for this title rematch.
Both Touma and Yousofi want to settle the score once and for all, no caveats, no excuses, no mercy.
