Even the biggest stars were unknown commodities at some point. Herolind Xhafolli and Torpal "Rambo" Merjoev are hardly unknown, but both seem to be one the way towards immense success and stardom.
These impressive yet underrated stand outs will now face off in a lightweight contest at Fight Club Rush 16 in Västerås, June third.
Malmö's Xhafolli fights out of Redline Training Center under UFC-veteran Hamid "Akira" Corassani. He built up an impressive undefeated amateur record of 8-0 with victories over the likes of FCR alumn Enes Kollari. The southern Swede even won the Swedish National Championships in amateur MMA - at middleweight!
Xhafolli then made his pro debut last november, finishing Mattias Henriksson via TKO following a series of brutal leg kicks that would have felled smaller trees.
Norways Merjoev could be one of the nations best kept secrets. He has dominated as an amateur with a slew of impressive wins, strong wrestling credentials and numerous medals and wins in grappling competitions.
The Norwegian made his pro debut in Denmark in February this year against Danish prospect and former FCR fighter Oskar Lang. It was a hard-fought battle but after three rounds Merjoev emerged as the clear winner via decision.
While it's undure which of these two top talents will emerge victorious, one thing is certain: both are destined for future success.
