Muay Thai phenom Kevin Mickelsson returns to face MMA champ Herolind Xhafolli

Fight Club Rush 21 will see the promotion return to the Swedish capital city and a bout in the shark tank that is the lightweight division was just announced as Herolind Xhafolli (1-3) will make his FCR debut against Kevin Mickelsson (0-1)! FCR 21 goes down at the Quality Hotel Strawberry Arena on September seventh.

It has been a long-awaited promotional debut for Xhafolli, who has been on the minds of the FCR match makers for quite some time now and was expected to compete at FCR 16 last year, though the fight never materialised.

The Malmö fighter trains under UFC vet Hamid "Akira" Corassani and had an impressive, undefeated amateur career that saw him defeat the likes of Enes Kollari and Oscar Grahn amongst others, he also won the Swedish amateur MMA championships in 2021.

Xhafolli made his pro debut the following year, finishing Mattias Henriksson via leg kicks in the second round. Since then, however, Xhafolli has hit a snag, losing two close decisions and recently succumbing to a flash submission.

Mickelsson is a thaiboxing stand out, representing Stockholm Muay Thai and with many impressive victories on his resumé. Interestingly enough, Mickelsson won his amateur MMA debut via submission before losing his following MMA bout.

At FCR 19 Mickelsson made his pro MMA debut, facing the criminally underrated Fredrik Ljunglund. Mickelsson started off fantastically, scoring a quick knockdown. Though Mickelsson got over eager, losing position on the ground and eventually being reversed and TKO'd.

Both Xhafolli and Mickelsson are leagues better than their most recent results may attest to and they enter the FCR cage on September seventh to prove that.
