Rising star Simon Ekbäck to take on tough as nails Jaafer Mohammed in Västerås

The last time Stockholms Jaafer Mohammed was in Västerås he silenced the crowd with a brutal finish of a hometown prospect, now he hopes to duplicate that success against knockout artist Simon Ekbäck!

The amateur lightweight contest will take place at Fight Club Rush 20 in Västerås on June first.

Ekbäck is the latest talent to be produced by Västerås Fight Club - a fighter forged in a similar mold as that of Tobias Harila and Alexander Lööf. A former hockey player who spent much of his time in the penalty box for fighting on a the ice, MMA was a natural progression for Ekbäck - who was a fan of combat sports before training it.

Thus far Ekbäck holds a 100% finishing rate as an amateur - stats few fighters can match before going pro. After announcing his presence to MMA Sweden with a TKO win over Joakim Rydenfelt, Ekbäck made his promotional debut at FCR 18 against skilled grappler Okan Yildiz - a team mate of Mohammed. Ekbäck stole the show, delivering a vicious first round KO.

Following that win Ekbäck showed wrinkles to his MMA game with a submission win over the wildly underrated Max Håkansson at FCR 19.

Mohammed has incredible credentials, sharp grappling skills and ruthless ground and pound, making him a lethal threat on the ground.

With wins over well-established FCR alumns such as Randy Fungula, Anton Ringvall, Viktor Mangs and Jafar Yousifi, Mohammed is a diamond in the rough just awaiting the spotlight he deserves.

Making his promotional debut at FCR 14, Mohammed bulldozed hometown hero Robin Kohzadi, winning via second round TKO. After that Mohammed faced Danish top prospect Abdullah Ali Amer at FCR 15, losing a decision after three hard-fought rounds.

Both Ekbäck and Mohammed seemed destined for stardom, however the question remains: which one will get to the top lever first? Their FCR 20 bout may very well decide that.
