Throughout the years amateur MMA has exploded in popularity, especially as championships are organised around the world by IMMAF. Now Sweden's Daniel Karlsson (1-0) and Finland's Tommi Leinonen (0-0), two successful representants of their respective national teams, will duke it out in a pro bout in Stockholm.
The bout goes down at Fight Club Rush 15 in Solna, Stockholm, February 25th.
Karlsson has an amateur win over Robin Enontekiö and is a two time Swedish national champion at light heavyweight. On top of that, has also represented the Swedish National Team during the 2021 IMMAF World Championships. Karlsson made his pro debut against countryman Daniel Bergström in December of last year, weathering an early storm en route to a second round TKO win.
Leinonen has excelled in the Finnish National Team and has won two bronze medals in the IMMAFs. He made it to the semifinals in the 2018 European championships and to the quarterfinals in the World Championships the same year. During the 2019 European Championships Leinonen would once more make it to the semifinals, losing to current undefeated UFC prospect Chris Leroy Duncan.
FCR 15 will already see a clash between Sweden and Finland as Moe Ahmadi takes on Patrik Pietilä. Karlsson vs Leinonen will surely deliver fireworks as well!
