Since his pro debut at FCR 13 last summer Swedish fan favourite Nabbe Malki (2-1) has been must-see TV and he will now finally square off with the undefeated, ice cold Finn Mika Kallio (2-0)!
The bout, which was supposed to take place at FCR 17 in September, will go down at FCR 19 at Strawberry Fields in Stockholm on February 24th.
Malki has a huge following and is closely tied to the Swedish football club Hammarby IF. Following impressive amateur wins over the likes of Christian Stigenberg and Michael "Pantera" Kouamé, Malki made his pro debut against arch rival Taylan Isik. Malki put on a show, winning via first round knockout.
After that Malki would suffer a tough defeat via knockout at the hands of Ebrima Faal at FCR 16. Malki Was then booked to face Kallio, who was forced out due to injury. Kallio was replaced by Brazilian grappler Maycon James. Depite being pressad back early on, Malki countered with a brilliant onslaught, finishing the fight less than a minute.
Kallio is a former representative of the Finnish National MMA Team and has racked up strong amateur wins over tough competition such as Romeo Thanveera - who recently made a successful pro debut at light heavyweight.
In April of this year Kallio made his pro debut, defeating experienced Norwegian Quinten DeVreught via a close split decision. Just a few weeks ago Kallio lined up his second straight win, doing so in Finland's premiere MMA promotion, knocking out Marcos Jose de Souza in the second round.
This will be Malki's first fight since signing with FCR and it showcases the promotion's desire to put Northern Europes best against each other.
Over the past year FCR has showcased pivotal, exciting bouts between Sweden and Finland, Malki vs Kallio will surely deliver as well.
